Sunday is one of the best places to watch whales and dolphins in Costa Rica, which attracts nature lovers, not only nationally, but worldwide, this city is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the different water sports and activities available here.

Sunday is the gateway to the Osa Peninsula and belongs to the Osa Conservation Area a biological corridor protected by the government, including the National Park Marino Ballena whale and dolphin as a popular destination.

The rivers and lakes in the park are home to large populations of both the American crocodile and caiman glasses with bull sharks. Corcovado is also a final bastion of Jaguar Central and several other cats are present, including Ocelot, ocelot, jaguarundi and Puma.


The four species of monkeys in Costa Rica can be seen in the park, including the endangered squirrel monkey Central faced, howler and Geoffroy's spider monkey. Other mammals have two fingers and feet three, peccary, the silky anteater Tamandua North. Poison dart frogs and several species of venomous snakes (including Fer-de-Lance and Bushmaster) are also common in the park.

To get to Sunday you can drive from San Jose to San Isidro in the Cordillera de Talamanca or rectum can be reached via the coastal road from Quepos beyond the city of Hacienda Baru.

Here you can kayak on the coast or enjoy some diving or snorkeling opportunities in the region. Horseback riding can also be arranged to Nauyaca waterfalls nearby, or you can visit the Marino Ballena National Park, home to a number of marine species such as turtles and whales come to mate and nest season.


If you wish, you can take a day trip to the lovely Caño Island just off the coast. This island is considered one of the best diving adventure in the world and home to an amazing variety of marine life.
